In the days gone by the USSR would have a room bugged and trace every word now its the good old USA that has taken over the field to include the world.  So they say its as easy as just typing a few words into google using XKEYSCORE something that Snowden exposed. 

“It is a fully distributed processing and query system that runs on machines around the world,” an NSA briefing on XKEYSCORE says. “At field sites, XKEYSCORE can run on multiple computers that gives it the ability to scale in both processing power and storage.
