Daniel overview

Here we go from the very simplest to the complex, from the image of a man as found in our own person to represent human history as given in Daniel 2, to the complex to discover who is the King of the North and who is the King of the South and when shall the rock made without hands smash the image to pieces?

There is little understanding of but the superficial perimeters of the prophecies of Daniel if we refuse to do the will of God- HERE is why- “John  14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love Him, and will manifest myself to Him.”  God manifests Himself to a commandment keeping people and by such He also reveals the future. Look carefully then at Exodus 20 and commit yourself to these standards, not by yourself alone but by His indwelling Spirit. 

“As we near the close of this world’s history, the prophecies recorded by Daniel demand our special attention, as they relate to the very time in which we are living”  The Story of Prophets and Kings  pp. 547-58.

Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. The book of Daniel is sealed until the latter time in which knowledge  shall be increased see Daniel 12:1-5. It is evident today  that this is the time spoken of by Daniel when his book which was sealed till the time of the end would be opened and knowledge would be increased. Much of what has been made available for man’s benefit has lead to an incredible advancement in technology for warfare.

Daniel and Revelation must be a careful study rightly dividing the word of truth where God is made manifest, for many are mislead by false teachings because they do not hold dear the platform of truth.

Symbols of the book of Daniel and also used in Revelation

Daniel 7:2 Winds represent strife 

Revelation 17:5 water refers to people nations, tongues.

Daniel 7:17,8:20,21 and Revelation 17:12 nations, kingdoms and kings are referred to interchangeably as beast, heads and horns.

The book of Daniel starts as what may seem a simple kid’s story so all can understand what develops with greater complexity, so it is the aim in this first section to summarize and simplify the book of Daniel.

There is an invasion from the north by the King of Babylon because of the rebellion of Israel, that is North of Israel, and  the princes of Israel are included in those captured and these young men are taken back to the palace of King Nebuchadnezzar to be schooled in the ways of Babylon and to serve the King. This was no easy experience for these men who were made eunuchs and they may well have compromised or rebelled against the harsh treatment that befell them. Jeremiah 25:9 Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.

There is lots to learn from the book of Daniel right from the start. These young Hebrew men showed their faith in adverse circumstances and took advantage of the situation by their resolve to God. Finding themselves in straight places they determined in their heart that they would not compromise in physical and spiritual matters and they were empowered by the Holy Spirit. God was made manifest in their lives and to those around them.  Daniel was used by God as a messenger to the King and to all throughout the ages of an example of how to act and what the Lord could do in one dedicated to God and He used Daniel as one of the most respected prophets, by Muslims, Christians and Jews alike, to foretell the future destiny and world history of  the human race.

Daniel and his friends refused the King’s meat which was contrary to Biblical health standards and it was by this avenue of faith in God that the Holy Spirit was to be manifest in foretelling the future, it was not by chance. Appetite is at the very center of the fall of man into sin clouding the mind and causing disease where the Holy Spirit wants to reside and bring healing to the mind and body. The detail of this is found in Daniel chapter 1. 

Nebuchadnezzar the King of the Northern country of Babylon had a dream (read Daniel 2) in which he saw the image of a man and that man as explained by Daniel (who was the only one able to recall to the King the dream and then explain the meaning), represented the kingdoms who would rule the world in succession till the end of time. Daniel made it plain that this image of various metals represents the different kingdoms that would rule the earth and to the King he said you are that head of gold. How did he know there would be only four kingdoms and not more and the order in which they would succeed and look at the simplicity and in whose image it is represented. 

So we have the head of gold, the breastplate and the arms of silver, the girdle of brass and the legs of iron and the feet and toes of iron and clay. These were Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome and then the division of Rome. Think of the metals that were foretold to fitly represent these nations. What was Rome known for? Its iron rule hence legs of iron at the stretch of the kingdom’s rule west and east it is represented by the two legs. The influence of Rome would be mingled amongst the nations till the end at which time the image of a man was complete and then a rock not carved by man’s hand but the hand of God would smash the image to pieces.

The book of Daniel continues to expand on this image of a man representing the history of mankind and the development of this power that would presenting himself as the son of man, being the antichrist power or later in Revelation we learn it is the development of the power of that which is one of three beasts that comes up out of the bottomless pit and wages war against God’s people.

The dream King Nebuchadnezzar has is of a man and this simple outline of kingdoms is now represented to Daniel as beasts in vision and they are not natural creations but amalgamations. The number of beasts in Daniel  7 is the same number as found in the divisions of metal found in the image of the man of Daniel 2. Daniel tells us what nations certain of the beasts represent.

The lion with eagle’s wings represents Babylon, the Bear with ribs in its mouth Medo- Persia, the leopard with four heads and the wings of a foul Greece and the terrible ten horn beast Rome.  And from this terrible ten horned beast the focus is given to a little horn or a little power representing a power that would come from Rome that was small but would say great things against the most High, wear out the saints of the Most High and think to change times and laws see Daniel 7:25. The smallest amongst the nations is the little horn with a mouth speaking great things and sets at war the nations while advocating peace.

A new power was to emerge from the ruins of the old, the Rome empire would be expanded and then reduced and give birth to a new political power – the church of Rome. Rome would first imbue all that came before it from Babylon to Greece as represented by the many gods of the pantheon and then the Roman church would take over this place of residence and is pictured elsewhere in Revelation 13 as a beast with the mouth of a lion, the paw of a bear, the body of leopard and ten  horns all pictured as one beast arising from the sea. The last beast and the last power that comes from it’s head is the Rome church, the little horn,  which is slain and given to burning flames Daniel 7:11. This power is something new on the scene that is different from that which preceded it, as it is a religious political power that uses others for its military might.

Kingdoms or powers that the Bible focuses on are those who affect God’s people, this one being one that would wear out the saints of the most high is given identification also by time periods. Even Rome itself in modern times was so revolted by the deeds of the church that it opened as it did in the Spain the inquisition  to the public for all to see in hope that such atrocities would never be repeated.  Seven times the Bible represents this power by the same time period but spoken of in various ways (with a day representing a year). Time, times and half a time, 1260 days or 42 months all represent the 1260 years of rule in the dark ages of the Roman church where ignorance held sway- today as the world makes its way back to the teachings of the church of Rome, the Bible or God’s voice is belittled, the reformation is all but dead. 

The purpose of the dreams and visions is more than just to prove God can foretell the future of nations. It is contrasting the false and the true and what is at the centre of the controversy and causing war. In chapter 7 the throne of God is introduced. The prophecy proceeds in time to the day of judgement and deliverance. The fourth beasts that grew out of the three that ruled before it, would continue also till the very end of earth’s history and in chapter 7 the judgment throne of God is also introduced.

In Daniel 8 Medo-Persia and Greece are introduced as the ram and the he-goat as quote here: Daniel 8: ⁶ And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power.⁷ And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.⁸ Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven. ²⁰ The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.²¹ And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king. ²² Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.²³ And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.⁹ And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.¹⁰ And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.¹¹ Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down.¹² And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.¹³ Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?¹⁴ And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

It is plain from what the angel explains to Daniel that the symbols of the nations change but it is expanded on that which preceded in previous dreams and visions. Babylon, Medo-Persia and Greece are all identified and Rome is well identified but not named for it does not yet exist in Daniel’s day. However the angel identifies for Daniel Babylon, Medo-Persia and Greece specifically by their names. 

In short the kingdom of Medo- Persia was over taken by Greece and after Greece Rome and from Rome the little horn power of an apostate church. Added here to this is a time period the 2300 days and this relates to the people of God- the sanctuary people. Hebrews 8:1. The Seventh-day Adventist movement is the only body that has kept the commandments in full and recognized by its teaching the sanctuary truth and is a worldwide movement. I would therefore suggest that they are the sanctuary people. Revelation  14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.  here is the time period mentioned  Daniel 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain [saint] which spake, How long [shall be] the vision [concerning] the daily [sacrifice], and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed

In Daniel chapter 9:23-27 this time period is further explained by the dissecting the 2300 days into more periods of time.

To secure the accuracy of interpretation of this time the coming of the messiah is marked in this period of the 70 weeks and the beginning of this time period is also marked by the time when Israel was given its own autonomy to rebuild the temple after its destruction by the Babylonians. The temple of God was a place where God would dwell amongst His people and its rebuilding was detailed by prophetic time with its rebuilding, destruction and cleansing. The 70 week time period is a subset and explanation of the 2300 days which ends as time marking the cleansing of the temple. Unto 2,330 days then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. Daniel 8:14 The beginning of the date for the restoration of the temple in 457 BC was first calculated by Sir Isaac Newton and placed as a footnote in the King James Bible.

The attributes of the little horn power are illustrated here. Notice this contrast which is also seen in Revelation 14 of cleaning and filth, darkness and light.

In Daniel 10 we are told Daniel is fasting and in earnest prayer concerning the meaning of these visions and what it means to God’s people and Daniel knew that the temple rebuilding and cleaning and the judgement of God concerning His people were very important issues. He had seen the great and solemn majesty of such events while in vision. Daniel 7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment [was] white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne [was like] the fiery flame, [and] his wheels [as] burning fire.
7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. 7:11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld [even] till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.  

Those who have already rejected Christ the Saviour have decided their destiny. The judgement concerns the people of God and is open to the angels of heaven as to who is worthy to eternal life and have decided to make an end of sin and make reconciliation for iniquity. Remember the word of Paul Romans 2:13 For not the hearers of the law [are] just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.  

The daily is not well understood

In relation to the “Daily,” it is important to understand that the word “sacrifice” was supplied by man’s wisdom, and does not belong to the text; as shown in some KJV Bibles in italics. The ‘Daily’ using Strong’s Hebrew & Greek dictionary comes form the root word- ‘tamiyd’ (taw-meed) in Hebrew meaning indefinite extension, perceptual, stretching out indefinitely. 

In Daniel 11 and 12 what is the theme of these chapters? It is that which has preceded -the little horn and its establishment and judgement for the people of God. The angel is talking to Daniel and in summary in Daniel 12 gives three time periods. Two in relation to the little horn and to the daily and setting up of the abomination that maketh desolate and one concerning the blessing of the people of God. Comparison given in Daniel 11:31 and 12:11, between Pagan and Papal Rome, where Pagan Rome is designated as the “daily desolation,” while the Papacy is the “ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION.” {February 13, 1883 ATJ, ARSH 102.13}

Daniel 8 ¹¹ Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily  was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down.¹² And an host was given him against the daily by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.¹³ Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?¹⁴ And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

Now let repeats these verses and add words for meaning: Daniel 8 ¹¹ Yea, he magnified himself even to the position of Christ Himself:  and by the little horn the continuance in rebellion that is paganism was taken away that had existed from before the time of the flood, and the place of paganisms’ temple was cast down.¹² And an army (pagan or’Christian’, Constantine in the name of Christ vs his enemies who fought in the name of a pagan god) was given the little horn against the continuance in rebellion that is paganism, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.¹³ Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the continuance of paganism, and the transgression of desolation that is the little horn, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?¹⁴ And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

“The continual rebellion started before the flood and it kept on going after the flood until the beginning of the sixth century, A.D. When it was taken away, something worse was put in its place. That something is described in the Scriptures as Antichrist, the Man of Sin. The apostasy of the latter times that would last until the Second Coming of Christ.”

“The Reformation … was really born of a twofold discovery–first, the rediscovery of Christ and His salvation; and second, the discovery of the identity of Antichrist and his subversions………The reformers were unanimous in its acceptance. And it was this interpretation of prophecy that lent emphasis to their reformatory action. It led them to protest against Rome with extraordinary strength and undaunted courage. … This was the rallying point and the battle cry that made the Reformation unconquerable.

The confusion has been brought in by compromise with Romanism, by false teachings and false Bible translations, inspired by the Jesuits which has sent a  death blow to Protestantism, who have been left with no vision of the future but to fulfill the will of Rome and make an image, note an image of the beast to Rome, soon to fulfill its destiny as Rome did in the past and will do again in the near  future.

An understanding of the daily  will help to anchor our understanding of events and who the angel is referring to in his explanation to Daniel. By studying this we can know in verse 39 of chapter 11 that we are at the start of the 1290 years ( the timeline given in Daniel 12) in history when there was a transition of power. What other references have we- the prince of the covenant, his anointing and death help to pinpoint time and history.

2. Abomination of desolation.

The Continuance of desolation is that which makes up the first heads of the beasts found in Revelation 13 and 17. The daily transgression never really went away but the images of Paganism the first 4 heads of the dragon or beast that is Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome were superseded by the abomination of desolation which is Romanism in its Christian phase’,  the Roman Church’s persecution for 1260 years, Apostate Protestant America’s persecution influenced by the Little horn (this is in the immediate future), a united Europe with the church ruling the European powers the ten Kings that come together for an hour, again a persecuting power- which shall be at the very last, the ten toes of the image of a man. Of course I’m jumping into Revelation 17 to give you this complete overview when referring to the seven heads of the beast or dragon. The image of man is fully formed by this transformed amalgamated beast ushering in the Antichrist himself, presenting himself as the Christ and yet he comes from all the occult symbols of Paganism. All this ‘work’ of deception makes way for Lucifer to present himself as the Saviour. (The circle is complete as we come back to the image of Daniel 2, the Antichrist is formed.)  That which was from the beginning; deception -> Babylon stretches out to the end of this earth’s history. As Christ is crowned King so too Lucifer mimics this coronation. 

Time periods

Daniel 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain [saint] which spake, How long [shall be] the vision [concerning] the daily [sacrifice], and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?  “HOW LONG” (Daniel 12:6 and Daniel 8:13)? The questions are answered with numbers: 2300 days, 1260/1290/1335 days.

In Daniel chapter 8, 2300 year prophecy is given concerning the little horn power and the restoration of the sanctuary. Daniel 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain [saint] which spake, How long [shall be] the vision [concerning] the daily [sacrifice], and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. 8:15 And it came to pass, when I, [even] I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.  The little horn power is explained but for Daniel this is yet future. 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify [himself] in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
8:26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told [is] true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it [shall be] for many days. 8:27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick [certain] days; afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood [it].

In Daniel 9 the prophet is seeking an answer to what he has seen in the vision by prayer and fasting and by studying Jeremiah.

Another vision is given this time a 70 week time prophecy is given for explanation and division of the 2,300 days or years. 70 weeks the Bible says in Daniel 9 is determined or cut off on thy people  This explanation came in answer to Daniel’s prayer who sort the meaning of vision of Daniel 8 concerning the cleaning of the sanctuary in relation to the 2300 days and the little horn power. (see Daniel 9) 

By legislative authority and autonomy the rebuilding of the temple at Jerusalem commenced at the beginning of the 2300 day/ year prophecy in 457 BC.  Divine authority was given Cyrus who was called by prophetic utterance over 150 years prior to this commencement date. Isaiah  44:28 That saith of Cyrus, [He is] my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid. 

Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand, [that] from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince [shall be] seven weeks. 457 BC is the date that Sir Isaac Newton gave us for the commencement and is the recognized date in history for the commencement of the restoration of the temple by the Jews under the authority of the Medes and Persians and to do so under their own autonomy. In other words under their right to govern and rebuild without outside interference. 

The time is given for us without a doubt by 1 the anointing of the messiah in which in Mark records the words of Christ ‘time is fulfilled’ Mark 1:15. 2 In the midst of the prophetic week the Messiah is cut off. These dates are like tent pegs or better still a nail in a building making solid the platform. The platform is the gospel which is as follows–> 

Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. Daniel 9:24   Israel of old did not make an end of sins and reconciliation for iniquity in killing God’s son and refused the gospel message and also refused to anoint the most Holy therefore their time  came to a finish at the end of the seventy weeks or seventy year prophecy. The gospel first given to the Jews would now be given to others who would accept the messiah- this is known as the time of the gentiles. The restoration of this gospel is to make a people ready for the second coming of Christ or for when Michael shall stand up is at the end of the 2300 days that is the day of judgement and atonement. Michael also known to us as Jesus shall stand up in the latter day and shall raise the dead. see Jude 1:9 

The rejection of the gospel by the nation and its leaders gave birth to the new Christian era and so successful were their efforts that they had delivered the gospel to all the known world back in Paul’s time. Colossians 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and [be] not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, [and] which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; 

Therefore paganism that had continued since before the flood or the daily or the continuance came to an end and gave birth to a new imitation and persecuting power of truth the little horn. 

It is interesting to note that by legislative authority the Roman emperor gave the  little horn or Papacy it authority to prosecute heretics. 

By Legislative authority the power of the Papacy came to an end.   Three Arian kings who destroyed the Roman western empire were pluck up as the prophecy foretold and a Pope favorable to the Arian doctrine was removed and  authority was given against such doctrine in favor of the trinity and all trace of Arian teachings were obliterated. (Daniel  7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were

three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn [were] eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.)   Napoleon by his legislative authority removed the power and authority of the Papacy until it was reinstated in 1929 fulfilling the Prophecy in Revelation 13 ‘the deadly wound was healed and all the world wondered after the beast’. Again with the re-installment of the Papacy’s state and territory a legal agreement was issued by the Italian King’s and authority was restored to the Papacy.

The coming of the Messiah is by divine authority no human authority is involved- a voice from heaven and the words of Christ- two being witnesses. The restoration of the temple after its destruction in 457 BC by contrast was by divine and human authority. The restoration of the gospel is of physical and spiritual dimension and it comes in the judgement time.

John 15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.  Restoration of truth on a worldwide scale came after the deadly wound of the Papacy in 1798.  The truths are as follows- the sanctuary in heaven and significance to us on earth, state of the dead, the second coming of Christ, the Sabbath, the relationship of the mind to the body and healing all fit together with the message that the hour of His judgement is come and a translation message as we wait for His appearing.  He who has not sufficient faith in Christ to believe that He can keep him from sinning, has not the faith that will give him an entrance into the kingdom of God.–Manuscript 161, 1897 see also Daniel 9:24. Also the book of Daniel is open for our study after 1798 and the Spirit of prophecy is made alive. God is manifest to a commandment keeping people.  The judgement commenced with the restoration of teachings that had been obscured through the teachings and persecutions of the Papacy.  In 1844 an understanding of the heavenly sanctuary (see Hebrews 8) was for the first time plainly understood and with other teachings, incorporated into SDA organisation. Visions and dreams also were manifest that confirmed these positions which were to the law and testimony of God Isaiah 8:20. The laws of health and the seventh-day were incorporated into the faith. 

Prelude to Daniel 11 and 12

• It is important to use the time periods of chapter 12 to help establish the words of the angel or the explanation given in Chapter 11
• Our guide post is also the image given at the very first in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream
• Understand the establishment of the little horn from the taking away of the ‘daily’ to the setting up of the abomination of desolation.
• In the midst of time the prince of the covenant also affirms the time of the vision and the length of time which is not literal days but a day representing a year.
• The destruction and cleansing of the temple is important to our understanding
• Who would constitute God’s people? Well you say that’s easy- we’ll consider this they keep all the commandments of God, the 4^th being a distinguishing mark and have love for the brethren. They will make an end of sin and reconciliation for iniquity. Therefore to really have the Holy Spirit guiding us we must obey the commandments and be committed to a balance gospel that recognizes grace, faith and that faith being a faith that works by love and purifies the soul.
• Day of judgement- blessed is he who comes to that day and the opening of the book of Daniel for the wise shall understand
• Do not study chapters 11 & 12 separately, and consider the interpretation in light of the figures and timeline already given in preceding chapters of Daniel.
• Daniel is not a full running commentary on history but has pinpointed certain major events that establish truth and error
• Beware of double application of prophecies that leave the reader in confusion having not thoroughly established the ‘first application.’
• This is like a train and the indicator says it only makes certain stops. Here are the main stops given by the indicator in Daniel 12 by the timeline for the events of Daniel 11
• 1. how the daily desolation was formed that is Rome. 2. How the abomination of desolation was set up and 3. the events surrounding the day of judgement and probation’s close in the latter day.  Which stops? This is indicated by the time line.

The conclusion of Daniel should be seen in expansion of that which has preceded and in this wise the king of the North being Turkey or Islam as has been suggested by many, does not fit that which shall continue to dominate till Christ comes but the little horn a power that was nothing like that preceded before (as described as such here in Daniel 11 and the preceding chapters) and works with flatteries, that desires not women fits well the work of the Papacy. Did we not say they he shall change times and laws, magnifying himself above God. Yes the power of atheism from the bottomless pit also magnified himself but I would suggest this is not introduced in Daniel but in  Revelation 11 and is identified with its own time period. 

When it comes as we are to Daniel 11 there are many ideas and thoughts but are they consistent with time lines and the flow of thought in the book of Daniel?  King of the north being Turkey or Islam has been a popular idea, however Rome is the great subject in the last half of the book of Daniel, as Babylon is the great subject in the first half of the book. {May 29, 1900 ATJ, ARSH 338.9}

Daniel 11

The head of the nations is the head of the statue in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream- Babylon and as we build the body the body parts becomes larger taking in more territory than the kingdom before it. The image of a man is built which is against Christ; that is the antichrist and a stone made without hands smashes the image to pieces see Daniel 2.  This image is Babylon named according to its head and that which the reformers also names as the papacy, antichrist which makes way for the false Christ. 

Why would the Bible be worried about Babylon and Egypt here in Daniel 11?  Babylon was prophesied to no longer be inhabited but by doleful creatures and Egypt to be a weak nation.

Says the angel to Daniel the Prophet in Chapter 11 ‘I will show you the truth..to establish the vision.’ This emphasizes, the truth that appears in the two chapters preceding chapters concerning the little horn and God’s people.

 Daniel 11:2 There shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than them all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia. The angel gives us the name of the kingdom to rise Grecia.

Xerxes was the last king (a very wealthy king) of Medo-Persia to be defeated by Greece and 9 minor rulers would follow before Alexander the Great would make it a world empire.

Daniel 11:3,4 (included word here for meaning of the text) And a mighty king Alexander Great shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will. And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven amongst Alexander’s generals; and not to his children, nor according to his dominion which he ruled but shall become the Roman empire: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others to rule. Now the angel details how this happened.

To the right is pictured the division of the Greek empire to Alexander’s 4 generals and not to his posterity or given to his children as predicted ->

‘The history of Rome is that of a city that originally had only a few miles of territory, and gradually extended its dominions first over Italy and then over the civilised world.’ To the North is Babylon and what overtakes that Kingdom physically and spiritually is Rome. To the south what overtakes that kingdom of Egypt is Rome but then apostate Christianity and then Mohammedanism. 

The following is the making of the kingdom of Rome. Conflict between Syria and Egypt and their powers and territory lead to Rome empire over taking all. ‘The Roman general Pompey defeats the Seleucid Antiochus XIII and incorporates Syria as a province of the Roman empire.’ The division of the north consolidates into Roman empire. Pompey also invades Jerusalem.

Directly between King of the North and the King of the South is Palestine -God’s children. The North would be overtaken by Rome after the battles between seleucus and Ptolemy.  Cleopatra would make her alliance with Rome and the powers of the Greek kingdom of the North would become that of Rome and also the power of Egypt would become that of Rome.

A general history from Greek division to Roman empire is contained in the following verses:

Daniel 11:5 And the king of the south shall be strong, and [one] of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion [shall be] a great dominion. 11:6  And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king’s daughter of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the power of the arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm: but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in [these] times. 11:7  But out of a branch of her root shall [one] stand up in his estate, which shall come with an army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail:  11:8    And shall also carry captives into Egypt their gods, with their princes, [and] with their precious vessels of silver and of gold; and he shall continue [more] years than the king of the north. 11:9  So the king of the south shall come into [his] kingdom, and shall return into his own land.

Egypt at this point in history (that is after the division of Grecian empire) was strong and annexed many places including Cyrus, Phoenicia, Caria, Cyrene and many islands and cities to itself and Macedonia and Thrace were annexed to Syria and war ensued. An agreement was made between Egypt and Syria by the marriage of Ptolemy Philadelphus’s daughter the second king of Eygpt to Theos the third king of Syria.

An agreement was made by marriage that did not last. War broke out to avenge the death of his sister Bernice by her brother Ptolemy Euergetes. This is what happened; the wife of Antiochus of Syria and his children were taken from the king’s court because of the  arranged marriage but later his former wife and children were brought back to the king’s court and Antiochus was poisoned by his former wife Laodice and she also arranged for the murder of Bernice and her children. 

11:10    But his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces: and [one] shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: then shall he return, and be stirred up, [even] to his fortress. 11:11    And the king of the south shall be moved with choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, [even] with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand.11:12    [And] when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down [many] ten thousands: but he shall not be strengthened [by it]. 11:13    For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches. 11:14    And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall. 

The setting up of the daily desolation and his temple. The robbers of thy people clearly refers to Rome to establish the vision but they shall fall.  Paganism was established in each universal kingdom and God intervened in the first two. He called Nebuchadnezzar his servant- the beast was given the heart of man (see Daniel 7:4) and Cyrus was called in the book of Isaiah (44:28,45:1) before his birth. Clearly the threat to the people of God was Paganism and many instances could be cited, that is why these beasts are thus presented. These are kingdoms that threatened God’s work and people. Daniel 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.  The most fearful of the beasts, dreadful and terrible is the fourth with the 10 horns and is about to be established by its kings or emperors who proclaim themselves as gods, after taking over the Roman senate. 

11:15    So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, neither [shall there be any] strength to withstand.

11:16    But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed.

The invasion is from the North and as stated prior in Daniel 8:9 – “toward the pleasant or glorious land” and Rome is the power which none shall stand before him.

11:17    He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; thus shall he do: and he shall give him the daughter of women, corrupting her: but she shall not stand [on his side], neither be for him.

 To enter the strength of his whole kingdom he must deal with Egypt and God’s children will also be involved with this invasion

The story of Cleopatra culminates in the Roman empire.  From senate to dictator empire and from Egyptian independence to incorporation. Time map of Roman empire 30 BC with the note ‘Egyptian independence has come to an end with the death of its famous queen, Cleopatra.’

Note this quote: ‘By this time, internal tensions led to a series of civil wars, climaxing with the assassination of Julius Caesar, which ended with the establishment of the Roman Empire. The exact date of the transition to the Roman Empire can be a matter of interpretation. Historians have variously proposed Julius Caesar’s crossing of the Rubicon River in 49 BC, Caesar’s appointment as dictator for life in 44 BC, and the defeat of Mark Antony and Cleopatra at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC.’

“Cleopatra originally ruled jointly with her father, Ptolemy XII Auletes, and later with her brothers, Ptolemy XIII and Ptolemy XIV, whom she married as per Egyptian custom, but eventually she became sole ruler. As pharaoh, she consummated a liaison with Julius Caesar that solidified her grip on the throne. She later elevated her son with Caesar, Caesarion, to co-ruler in name….Eager to take advantage of Julius Caesar’s anger toward Ptolemy, Cleopatra had herself smuggled secretly into the palace to meet with Caesar. Plutarch in his “Life of Julius Caesar”^[13] gives a vivid description of how she entered past Ptolemy’s guards rolled up in a carpet that Apollodorus the Sicilian was carrying.^[14] She became Caesar’s mistress, and nine months after their first meeting, in 47 BC, Cleopatra gave birth to their son, Ptolemy Caesar,nicknamed Caesarion,which means “little Caesar’.”

11:18    After this shall he turn his face unto the isles, and shall take many: but a prince for his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease; without his own reproach he shall cause [it] to turn upon him. 11:19    Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: but he shall stumble and fall, and not be found.

 “After this conquest, Caesar defeated the last remaining fragments of Pompey’s party, Cato and Scipio in Africa and Labienus and Varus in Spain. Returning to Rome, the “fort of his own land,” he was made perpetual dictator;”

The daily desolation set up 

Ist emperor of the Roman empire  Julius Ceasro was a great warrior and it was through the general’s victories that one came to political power in Rome. The story of the empire of Rome hinges on Julius Caesar who was made dictator for life, emperor  and it was this move that cost him his life by those in favour of the republic. (‘and not be found’) The reproach on Israel by Pompey and his party would cease by Julius Caesar victories over him.  Rome became an empire by this first king as predicted. 

‘Julius Caesar was the first historical Roman to be officially deified. He was posthumously granted the title Divus Iulius or Divus Julius (the divine Julius or the deified Julius) by decree of the Roman Senate on 1 January 42 BC.’ Around 60 or more men participated in his assassination, he was stabbed 23 times. He was the pontiff maximus that would establish itself in ‘Christianity.’ The Pope later taking to himself that very title. 

11:20    Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes [in] the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.

Emperor 2 Caesar Augustus was called the son of god.  Luke  2:1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. This event marks the birth of Christ in which Mary and Joseph had to journey to Bethlehem and Christ found lying in a manger. 

11:21    And in his estate shall stand up a vile person (Tiberius), to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

11:22    And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant. 

Tiberius was not Augustus’ son but connected through his second marriage.  Tiberius rise to the throne was with suspicion as history portrays yet at the time he came to power peaceably with his acceptance by the senate. He was known as a broodish fellow who was busy dispatching conspirators.  Tyranny and debauchery were characteristic or his rein.  He was not a loved emperor but had obtained the kingdom by persistence of Livia and the death Agrippa.  Augustus had said to Livia ‘your son is too vile to wear the purple of Rome. 

Emperor 3 Jesus was baptized or anointed by the Father and the Holy Spirit ascended upon Him and Christ also died under the reign of Tiberius fulfilling the covenant made in Eden See Luke 3:1

Jerusalem’s temple was destroyed as with a flood shall they be overthrown from before him. It was the death of Christ and the impact on the disciples with the world wide commission that would see the Roman empire fall.

Jesus foretold plainly the destruction of the temple at Jerusalem. Matthew 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to [him] for to show him the buildings of the temple. 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

He (Jesus) saw Jerusalem encompassed with armies, the besieged inhabitants driven to starvation and death, mothers feeding upon the dead bodies of their own children, and both parents and children snatching the last morsel of food from one another, natural affection being destroyed by the gnawing pangs of hunger. He saw that the stubbornness of the Jews, as evinced in their rejection of His salvation, would also lead them to refuse submission to the invading armies. He beheld Calvary, on which He was to be lifted up, set with crosses as thickly as forest trees. He saw the wretched inhabitants suffering torture on the rack and by crucifixion, the beautiful palaces destroyed, the temple in ruins, and of its massive walls not one stone left upon another, while the city was plowed like a field. Well might the Saviour weep in agony in view of that fearful scene.  {DA 577.2}

‘Paganism as paganism was laid low, and the “mystery of iniquity” was enthroned.’  

The daily shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up:   We arrived at a period, and an event, when paganism in the empire received its deathblow, by the conversion of those pagan kings. Some vestiges of paganism did, of course, exist in the empire after this, but I know of no account of pagan sacrifices being offered, after that, in the city of Rome, “the place of his (paganism) sanctuary.” Nor did it ever recover much strength or influence any where in the bounds of the western Roman empire. Thus, in A.D. 508, paganism, or the daily abomination of paganism ceased in the Roman empire. And it was taken away, too, by those pagan kings who conquered Rome. But the time had not yet fully come for the “man of sin” to be revealed. Those kings, although they had embraced Christianity, and gave their support to the pompous ceremonies of the Roman religion, yet they were most of them Arians in sentiment, and bitter opposers to the orthodox faith. J Litch In relation to the “daily” (Daniel 8:12)  the word “sacrifice” was supplied by man’s wisdom.

Daniel 11:23-31 is between the time of the messiah and the taking away of the daily desolation and the setting of the abomination of desolation. The abomination of desolation makes a direct attack on the law of God the standard of righteousness by which man is saved! Understand that is the abomination. “The future history must deal with church and state, not with kingdoms such as Babylon, Medo-Persia, and Greece. History has changed.’

The plucking up of the three horns establishes the little horn. Constantine er-established Rome under the ever growing and increasingly popular religion of Christianity. This was a political/religious and military adultery of pure Christianity. Paganism entered the church by Constantine’s introductions. Also a  religious political war came from Alexandria over the godhead, Arian vs the trinity. Egypt was the centre of a corrupt theology of Greek philosophy intertwined in from which also corrupt versions of the Bible would arise. And of course the popular festival day of paganism, Sunday is adopted into the church but it is not the day ordained nor the day recognizing Christ as sovereign creator. The fourth commandment was removed and the 1st day of the week enforced as a Christian worship day. 

Constantine indeed performed that which neither his father nor his father’s fathers had performed. He left to his heirs “a new capital, a new policy, and a new religion. The league with a small people (approximately 1000 in number) or the little horn or little power or the smallest state on earth. 

The rise to power by Constantine is a very interesting one. The Roman empire was divided and he was not brought up in the house of his father but his first victories were on the battlefield with his father’s final years and he was first declared Emperor in Britain when his father died. An alliance by marriage with Licinius in the west gave him greater strength until which time Licinius was also executed despite the pleas of Constantine’s sister to spare his life. Yet before this time Constantine has to deal with Maxentius in Rome who had superior arms. On the battlefield when the battle was waning it is said that through the clouds the sun shone as a cross with the inscription, Conquer by this. Here he made a pledge to God should he gain the victory which he did against the odds, he would be a convert to Christianity. But you know sometimes the devil answers not God.  To the right is maxentius before his death. (painting from Vatican museum) A tragedy to strike later was when Constantine’s second wife accused his son of sexual indecency and his son was banished and then executed only to find it was a plot and Constantine then had his wife executed.

 

The victory arch of Constantine from Battle of the Milvian Bridge in  312 does not even on closest examination display signs of the cross but rather pagan symbols. 

A new day, a new religion whose foundation was on a pagan festival day-

First Sunday Law enacted by Emperor Constantine –
March, 321 A.D.

On the venerable Day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. In the country, however, persons engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits; because it often happens that another day is not so suitable for grain-sowing or for vine-planting; lest by neglecting the proper moment for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost. No statement asserting the change of the Sabbath can be produced from the writings of the fathers of the first three hundred years ……One of three things is indispensable to those who would prove the change of the Sabbath. 1. One plain statement that God has changed the Sabbath from the seventh to the first day of the week. 2. Or a single statement that God has blessed, hallowed and sanctified the first day of the week. 3. Or a single commandment to keep the first day holy as a Sabbath unto the Lord. J N Andrews

The Jesuits today plainly say for whom the inquisition was founded  and behind judaizing you can see a determined assault against Sabbath keepers because it is at odds with their authority and the law of God: “The inquisition was founded to prosecute judaizing conversos, namely individuals of Jewish ancestry who were baptized as Christians but continued to practice aspects of Mosaics law such as dietary rules and rituals associated with the Sabbath. To Christian religious authorities, conversos who followed Jewish ceremonies were heretics because they appeared to be practicing two religions simultaneously and hence betraying their baptismal vows. The Inquisition was supposed to find these judaizing heretics and, if possible, enclose them again in the Christian community after eliciting from them an expression of repentance. If the suspected heretic refuse to confess her error and sufficient eyewitness testimony against her, she would be relaxed to the secular arm, a phrase meant released to the secular authorities and burn at the stake. The Cambridge Companion to The Jesuits Edited by Thomas Worcester p23,24

 

The tomb of Constantine was the 13th tomb erected for himself amongst the 12 disciples at Constantinople, some say as a god, which was what emperors do. Later to be followed by the venerated Popes of St Peters and elsewhere.  Below left hand side tombs of the apostles at Constantinople and to the right St Peter’s pontiff max the title of the high priest of the Roman state cult mummified. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Trinity debate

The theology of arianism that Christ was a created son of god and the Christ was a co-equal with the Father caused a division that split the fast growing Christianity. Socrates of Constantinople believed that Arius was influenced in his thinking by the teachings of Lucian of Antioch, a celebrated Christian teacher and martyr. In a letter to Patriarch Alexander of Constantinople Arius’ bishop, Alexander of Alexandria, wrote that Arius derived his theology from Lucian.

This is an interesting overview on the Trinity

‘The council of Nicaea dealt primarily with the issue of the deity of Christ. Over a century earlier the use of the term “Trinity” (Τριάς in Greek; trinitas in Latin) could be found in the writings of Origen (185–254) and Tertullian (160–220), and a general notion of a “divine three”, in some sense, was expressed in the second century writings of Polycarp, Ignatius, and Justin Martyr. In Nicaea, questions regarding the Holy Spirit were left largely unaddressed until after the relationship between the Father and the Son was settled around the year 362.^[69] So the doctrine in a more full-fledged form was not formulated until the Council of Constantinople in 360 AD.^{[70] ‘}

‘It should be observed, however, that the earliest mention of Sunday as the Lord’s day, is in the writings of Tertullian.’ ‘The first instance of a sacred title being applied to this festival, and the earliest trace of abstinence from labor on that day, are found in the writings of Tertullian at the close of the second century.’ J N Andrews. The trinity and Sunday and Easter had an important role in forming the apostate church. I do not dispute there are three that bear witness but we are stating the facts of the controversy.  It had, however such profound effect upon other doctrines relating to the plan of salvation and upon outward acts of worship that a gulf was created between the Papacy and the institutions of the real church. 

 

 

The King of the South Egypt has three phases

Phase 1. The pagan phase. As an empire of pagan deities and its war with Rome resulted in the final establishment of the Roman empire

Phase 2 the Christian phase. The centre of Christian and Greek philosophy was in Alexandria which resulted in war between arian and the trinitarian teachings. It was arian kings that invaded the Roman empire following Arian beliefs while the Papacy endorsed trinitarian beliefs. It was the removal of arianism that established the Little horn or the abomination of desolation and the taking away of paganism- the continuance that had been since before the flood. The Franks or French king Clovis became a son of the Rome Church and was instrumental in removing the arian kings. Three horns were plucked up. The French would see the repercussions of this choice year later in the bloodshed that led to their revolt against the church of Rome that is the french revolution.

Phase 3 – Egypt became a Muslim power- some spend a lot of time fitting the prophecy here to the Muslim period but is this consistent with the timeline given and the events pinpointed in prophecy concerning the daily. 

After the death of Christ that is A.D. Egypt polluted the teachings of Christianity

Council of Laodicea, about A.D. 350, passed a decree, saying, “It is not proper for Christians to Judaize, and to cease from labor on the Sabbath, but they ought to work on that day, and put especial honor upon the Lord’s day, as Christians. If any be found Judaizing, let him be anathematized.” though this had little effect on the day of worship in general except in Rome and Egypt but the quote already holds the sentiments of things that are about to transpire during Papal rule.  {1858 JNA, RCSK 25.4} This account of the manner of celebrating the Sabbath in the fifth century, is corroborated by Sozomen, in his Ecclesiastical History, b. 7, c. 9. He says, “At Constantinople, and almost among all, the Christians assembled upon the Sabbath, and also upon the first day of the week, except at Rome and Alexandria; the ecclesiastical assemblies at Rome were not upon the Sabbath, as in almost all other churches of the rest of the world; and in many cities and villages in Egypt, they used to commune in the evening of the Sabbath, on which day there were public assemblies.” {1858 JNA, RCSK 26.2}

To enforce the law of the Popes came the war lord Clovis and blessing of the emperor Constantine and then Justinian and the authority of the emperor was given to the Pope to prosecute heretics- judaizers. The Popes became so strong that they would seat and unthrone emperors and place themselves equal with god by the corruption of sacred truths. 

There was a dispute between arian and trinitarian theology, that is over the Godhead and the nature of Christ.  ‘Socrates of Constantinople believed that Arius was influenced in his thinking by the teachings of Lucian of Antioch, a celebrated Christian teacher and martyr.’ Lucian of Antioch was he who preserved the scriptures in his day from the contamination of Greek philosophy being mixed with God’s word in Alexandria and by which works of the Bible Erasmus took his translation which set fire to the reformation.

To clarify what is touched or altered at this time by the setting up of an apostate church- 

• State was joined by church and incorporated in law the shackles of which would not be fully unleashed until the setting up of the constitution of the United States
• The law of God was altered and enforced, that is a different day of worship and different mediators thus preventing many access to the tree of life. Revelation  22:14 Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
• Who God is and the detail of such is made a political/military vehicle and an obstacle to the true gospel
• The church became a weapon of enforcement of its teachings, and false gods representing God by cruelty and false teachings. Mary is not a god at all and is dead and buried. 

The ten toe or the ten horns

Daniel 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn [were] eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.  

 The plucking up of three horns to establish the little horn in fulfillment of the 1290 years. This occurred in 508 AD

2. French or Franks the sons of Rome that made way for little horn and fought her battles and was the centre of persecution during dark ages – for example St Bartholomew massacre.
3. Anglo-Saxons are today in league with the US and since WW II has helped been the eyes and intelligence on war that are increasingly in the interests of  Rome via the US and is dragged in with some discomfort because of its Protestant heritage to the UN
4. Burgundians- Switzerland are a people that should have been culpable for war crimes as they dealt in blood money during the WWII & being the Papal guards.
5. Spain or Visigoths is undoubtedly a son of Rome from its long history as it carried the inquisition to the British shores and fought many Papal wars
6. Suevi- Portugal is not a strong partner but a willing one
7. Italy at one time known as Lombards

And these kingdoms, with the papacy, are the elements that compose the Beast and his power, against whose work, with that of the Image of the Beast, the Third Angel’s Message utters its solemn warning. {August 28, 1900 ATJ, ARSH 552.18}

The three (horns) which were plucked up, were the Heruli, who occupied Italy; the Vandals, who occupied North Africa; and the Ostrogoths, who had been instrumental in rooting up the Heruli, and who occupied Italy in their place. That “other one,” before whom these three were rooted up, is described as having “eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things;” and was, and is, the papacy. {August 28, 1900 ATJ, ARSH 552.15}

Three arian powers or Kings were plucked up that made way for the little horn-Daniel 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn [were] eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

 A 10-nation military alliance appeared in Europe in 1995, called the Western Europe Union. Though three were plucked up to make way for the Papal state at the end of time Revelation gives us further insight that the beast or antichrist shall stand on 10 toes. Revelation 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

In the healing of the deadly wound after 1929 a 10 nation alliance would arise in western Europe that would rule with the beast for one hour. 

“The issue of European religious union is one that has been concealed even deeper than the plans for political union, but the ratchet towards a Catholic Europe is just as real. The Pope’s recent demand that ‘God’ be featured in the emerging European constitution has been echoed by many leading Catholic politicians and bishops. While on the surface such a reference may offend only Europe’s atheist and humanist contingent, it must be observed that when the Vatican refers to God, she sees herself as God’s infallible vice-regent upon earth, the leading organ of divine expression; indeed, according to its publication Dominus Iesus (5 September 2000), as the only mediator in the salvation of God’s elect, insisting that all other Churches, including the Church of England, ‘are not Churches in the proper sense’.” Adrian Hilton 30 August 2003

 That the Papacy is a member of the European union and the only religious group to have a say at its tables is an injustice to humanity to say the least.

Daniel 11:23 And after the league [made] with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.
11:24 He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do [that] which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: [yea], and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.

The league between the Rome and the Papacy that would give rise to the Roman Church or little horn

 

Daniel 11:25  And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him.

Daniel 11:26    Yea, they that feed on the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain. 11:27    And both these kings’ hearts [shall be] to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end [shall be] at the time appointed. 11:28    Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart [shall be] against the holy covenant; and he shall do [exploits], and return to his own land.

451 “Battle of the Catalaunian Plains was one of the last major military operations of the Western Roman Empire though Visigothic soldiers formed the core of the allied Roman army. The battle was a strategic victory for the Romans, stopping the Huns’ attempt to conquer Roman Gaul. The numbers of the dead were vast. 

‘Attila returned in 452 to claim his marriage to Honoria a new, invading and ravaging Italy along the way. His army sacked numerous cities and razed Aquileia so completely that it was afterwards hard to recognize its original site.’ I wondered how Venice started and why other cities had not followed but as you can see it was a strategic move to the small islands in the Venetian Lagoon  to protect themselves from the invading Huns. 

‘Legend has it he had his soldiers carry dirt in their helmets to build a hill north of Aquileia from which he could watch the destruction of the city, thus founding the town of Udine, where a castle now stands on the legendary hill. Aëtius, who lacked the strength to offer battle, managed to harass and slow Attila’s advance with only a shadow force. Attila finally halted at the River Po. 

Emperor Valentinian III sent three envoys, the high civilian officers Gennadius Avienus and Trigetius, as well as the Bishop of Rome Leo I, who met Attila at Mincio in the vicinity of Mantua, and obtained from him the promise that he would withdraw from Italy and negotiate peace with the Emperor.^[34]

The account is given of a meeting between Pope Leo 1 and Attila in which Leo is given credit by those favourable to the Catholic faith in persuading  Attila not to destroy Rome.

Babcock concludes that the account of natural death, given by Priscus, was an ecclesiastical “cover story” and that Emperor Marcian (who ruled the Eastern Roman Empire from 450 to 457) was the political force behind Attila’s death.’

Daniel 11:29    At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter. Rome’s position is at a turning point into something totally different- the Roman church.

11:30    For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant. 11:31    And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away 508 AD the daily [sacrifice], and they shall place the 538 AD abomination that maketh desolate.

 The Papacy needed strength to enforce its dogma-

Against incredible odds the Vandal arian king, Genseric (who believed he was ordained of God to defeat Rome) defeats the navel armies of Rome by fire ships at the Battle of Cap Bon 468 AD here referring to the fall of western Rome by the ships of Chittim. ” Alexander the Great the Macedonian” had come from the “land of Kittim”

Battle of Cape Bon (468 AD): The East Roman empire puts all it’s might into rebuilding the shattered West Roman Empire by trying to recapture the wealthy North African provinces but is defeated by the Vandal king Geiseric. This is a very important and decisive battle. Genseric is initially defeated and Gaiseric asks Basiliscus to allow him five days to draw up conditions for peace. During the negotiations, Gaiseric gathered his ships and suddenly attacked the Roman fleet with fire ships. The vandals were outnumbered by men and number of ships, 110,000, men 1,113 ships on the side of Rome with the loss of 70,000 men and 700 ships and the Vandals win and hold the wealthy areas of North Africa secure.  Victory at the battle of Cap of Bon lead to further victories with the sacking of Rome. Here you see the candlesticks taken by Tiberius in the hands of the vandals. By all accounts the vandals were more civilized than those they defeated in Rome. 

He shall have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant

There were two emperors who particularly had intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.

That covenant is enjoined with the Sabbath commandment–>

Isaiah 56:2 Blessed [is] the man [that] doeth this, and the son of man [that] layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
56:6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;

 Later on the emperor Justinian in considering war against the vandal empire but has doubts about the conquest of Africa. It was the first of Justinian I’s wars of reconquest of the lost Western Roman Empire. We read “If Africa should be reduced, it cannot be preserved without the additional conquest of Sicily and Italy. Success will impose the obligations of new labours’; a single misfortune will attract the Barbarians into the heart of your exhausted empire.” Justinian felt the weight of this salutary advice; he was confounded by the unwonted freedom of an obsequious servant; and the design of the war would perhaps have been relinquished, if his courage had not been revived by a voice which silenced the doubts of profane reason. “I have seen a vision,” cried an artful or fanatic bishop of the East. “It is the will of Heaven, O emperor! that you should not abandon your holy enterprise for the deliverance of the African church. The God of battles will march before your standard, and disperse your enemies, who are the enemies of his Son.”  

Our predecessors did not deserve this favor of God, as they were not only not permitted to liberate Africa, but even saw Rome itself captured by the Vandals, and all the Imperial insignia taken from thence to Africa. Now, however, God, in his mercy, has not only delivered Africa and all her provinces into Our hands, but the Imperial insignia as well, which, having been removed at the capture of Rome, He has restored to us. —Codex Iustinianus, I.XXVII

“Clovis –observing the power and influence of the Papacy, and anxious to avail himself of papal support, he professed conversion in 496, and his entire following united with him in adherence to Catholicism, three thousand of whom were baptized along with himself soon after his conversion.  Newman, A Manual of Church History, vol. 1, p. 404. Truth Triumphant 

Clovis being a pagan married a catholic Clotilda whose influence was toward her faith. Like many families there is a division of belief. “Clotilda’s uncle (the new king of Burgundy) was an Aryan Christian; one of Clovis’ sisters was an Arian Christian and married to the Arian king Theodoric; a second sister was also Arian; and a third was pagan. Clovis, the story goes, consulted those closest to him: his warriors. Then, on Christmas day – more than two years after his purported victory near Bonn – Clovis and several of his warriors were baptized Catholics.”  The time of his confession of faith comes as story strikingly familiar to that of Constantine when victory in the battlefield is waning and a pledge to God is given if he should come out victorious and he does. Like Constantine his new faith has a binding resolve between him and his soldiers. Clovis not only put down the arian powers, the Bible says three stood in the way but pagan kings also,  establishing the Papacy so the vision is true. 

The nature of a war lord not a converted man-‘Sigobert the Lame who had fought alongside Clovis in battle was murdered at the suggestions of Clovis,  so  Sigobert’ son Chlodorich, sent assassins as he took a journeyed from his kingdom to a nearby forest.  Chlodorich then told Clovis of the murder and offered him the finest treasures of his newly inherited kingdom as a symbol of their new alliance. Clovis sent messengers to assess the treasure, who then asked Chlodorich to plunge his hand as deeply into his gold coins as possible. With his arm submerged, the envoys of Clovis then killed the new king in betrayal. Clovis then stood before the people of Chlodoric and told them that the son had sent assassins to murder his father, but that Chlodoric had subsequently met his own end as well. Clovis then offered his protection to the former subjects of Sigobert and Chlodoric, and thus became their king.’  So in 509 AD a year after his baptism into the ‘Christian faith’ the heart of the man who is the mercenary for Rome intentions and wickedness are exposed.

The army of the Visigoths was routed by the Franks in the encounter of 507. It was necessary for Clovis to destroy the sources of further supply. He struck while the iron was hot, and in 508 pursued the Visigoths to their southern strongholds and overcame them. Clovis was named consul by the emperor” Truth Triumphant

 

11:32    And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do [exploits].

 As part of the holy covenant we accepted God’s badge of loyalty and service at the time of our baptism. The papacy corrupt by flatteries or by politics those that keep not the covenant.

The people of God who do exploits are men such as Lucius and those who fled into the wilderness preserving the word of God. 

Revelation 12 tell us the true church fled into the wilderness yet was active, And they that had understanding of the Word of God and instructed many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, [many] days- the 1260 years of Papal persecution.  Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.  

Daniel 11:35-36 words added to text for meaning: The papacy again at this very time as in days gone by is strengthened its hold by flatteries, bridge building and compromise. And [some] of them of understanding shall fall to their death, to try them and throw them in prison, but persecution shall purge, and make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed- 1798.  And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. 

The accomplishment of the indignation is the 1260 days of papal rule in which the papacy prospered and persecuted God’s people.  The man of sin shall speak great words against the Most High. Daniel 11:37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.  Does the Papacy regard the god of his Roman fathers? Or the result was the birth of a new religion with Mary and a Jesus and Father that is really unknown to Pagan Rome.

Daniel 11:38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces or God’s protestors- the monks and priests: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.

The papists have honored gods, such as their heathen ancestors never knew; such as the Virgin Mary and the whole calendar of saints. He has honored those images with ornaments of gold and silver, precious stones and pleasant things. {1838 JoL, PSC 95.3} Josiah Litch, Even the ceiling are lined with gold, the floors of marble and ‘every pleasant thing’.

Daniel 11:38  11:39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge [and] increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain. Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god– Mary the Queen of heaven, whom he shall acknowledge [and] increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.

The god of the Romans were no longer regarded and their altars were replaced by Christians ones so to speak but they were not according to the words of Christ and the priesthood He officiates only and they took to themselves their own perverted Levitical priesthood. 1 Timothy 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;  thus they take to themselves in the confession and hearing of sins the role of God which is a blasphemous act. The god of forces fits well the exaltation of the mortal mother of Jesus who is dead and buried until the time the second coming and her resurrection :”The Second Vatican Council in 1964 referred to Mary as Queen of the Universe. Section 59 of Lumen Gentium, the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church from Vatican II, stated: “Finally, the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all guilt of original sin, on the completion of her earthly sojourn, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen of the universe,”and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.  Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge [and] increase with glory. Mary of whom little is spoken or written has been increased with glory just look at her exaltation around the world and by the mouth of the popes. If they are invoking Mary who is not a god at all on whom are they in fact calling and exalting? In his fortress the pope honour the queen of heaven with gold and silvers and many precious things. 

And at the time of the end Daniel 11:30-45

The time of the end is after 1798 this is given from the time period of Daniel 12- 1260 and 1290 years terminate in 1798 when after this time knowledge shall be increased see Daniel 12:4

For the Vatican to assume its former power without interference as in ages past it must deal with the Muslims by diplomacy and force. The USA has the firepower and the Vatican loads its bullets so to speak.   The king of the north and south are religious-political military powers that are fighting for domination. Revelation 13 describes the outcome. Daniel 40-43 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.  He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many [countries] shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, [even] Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.  He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.  But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians [shall be] at his steps.

Think about this carefully. Clovis today is the USA who will make an image to the beast and give power to the Bishop of Rome and this has almost reached fulfillment but not yet. “We’re going to take out seven countries in 5 years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran” General Wesley Clark.

Why was that sketch of the Roman Republic written, and then closed up and sealed until a time two thousand years after that republic had failed as a republic, and had become imperial?—It was because at this time, “the time of the end,” there would be another republic that would go over the same course as did that republic,—would apostatize from republicanism into imperialism, and then would become the tool of an apostate church in a union in the very image of the papacy, which was made by such a union with that apostate republic. The war that wages is around the temple in Jerusalem and it has always involved a Christian Muslim conflict, not Russian, not communism.  The stronger power obviously more dominant is from the North.

The time for God’s people

 Two time periods are  used in relation to the desolating power- the King of the North times, times and half a time when  he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people that is the 1260 years of Papal rule and the taking away of the continuance or the daily, from a pagan to a Christian kingdom the 1290 year period (using the day for a year scale)

The people of God are also denoted as those who come to the 1335 years. This time taken from the time 508 the taking away of the daily to 1843 brings us to a time when the church of God had opened the book of Daniel and with joy awaited the return of their saviour in the great advent movement.

 In the year 1840, another remarkable fulfillment of prophecy excited widespread interest. Two years before, Josiah Litch, one of the leading ministers preaching the second advent, published an exposition of Revelation 9, predicting the fall of the Ottoman empire, and specifying not only the year but the very day on which this would take place. According to this exposition, which was purely a matter of calculation on the prophetic periods of Scripture, the Turkish government would surrender its independence on the eleventh day of August, 1840. The prediction was widely published, and thousands watched the course of events with eager interest.
At the very time specified, Turkey, through her ambassadors, accepted the protection of the allied powers of Europe, and thus placed herself under the control of Christian nations. The event exactly fulfilled the prediction. When it became known, multitudes were convinced of the correctness of the principles of prophetic interpretation adopted by Miller and his associates, and a wonderful impetus was given to the Advent movement. Men of learning and position united with Miller, both in preaching and publishing his views, and from 1840 to 1844 the work rapidly extended. great Controversy p334

The time of the church of Philadelphia was the time of awakening for the church. The book sealed of Daniel was opened. Revelation 3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;  3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

I believe that the angel coming down with great power to the earth and giving power to the three angel’s messages of Revelation 14 will not only involve an expanded view of the law of God but the fulfillment and clearer vision of these prophecies in which the latter rain will fill the people and the earth with the glory of God, with light shining from His Word to His people and to the world empowered by the Spirit of God. 

The judgement scene in heaven takes place amongst the angels of God or God’s ministers.  Remember the figure of the earthy sanctuary representing the heavenly sanctuary and the figures of angels on the curtains representing thousands of unfallen beings who worship Him and minister to us. Not one person who does not profess to be a commandment keeper shall enter heaven’s gates (God made it simple by writing in the Bible this one thing only Exodus 20). Not until the little horn’s power was stayed and liberty allowed with the separation of church and state,  was the sealed book of  Daniel then opened and in heaven, the judgment was set and the books of record also opened with every believer’s name written therein examined for candidacy. The restoration of truth given in 1844 and the teachings that surrounded a compete gospel means that now you are made clean through the word or teachings of Jesus. I appeal to you that the restoration of truth would be found in a commandment keeping world wide movement that rose in 1844- Seventh Day Adventist church.  Daniel  8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.  The little horn also claims to be a believer but it says in Daniel 7:11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld [even] till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.  (That does not mean that every one who is not a Sabbath keeper or a Catholic will not be saved, God forbid but He is drawing His people to a knowledge of Himself and He perfectly expresses Himself here Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 20:10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates: 20:11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.)

Is the date 1844 in the middle of nowhere?

The date 1844 is that which ends the 2300 days so what happened? Where is the grand finale? As I stated in the beginning God would manifest Himself to a commandment keeping people. A building or a  platform had to be well established and well supported. Worship Him-  the commission given to the Jews of old was rejected,  Here it is-Daniel 9:24 “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy”.  Therefore the time specific to the Jews was given to the church of God- the very same message. Revelation 14:6-12 gives us the 7th day Sabbath command again to worship Him that made heaven and earth, that is Step 1 in reference to the platform see the illustration. In worshiping God it is not only a day specific, it is the whole person.  1 Thessalonians  5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The health laws, the Sabbath the very things for which the Jesuits and inquisition was established to annihilate such teachings and heretics; these truths of God were to be revived in a worldwide movement.  The true gospel involves your ‘whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ’. A movement grew out of 1844. A new order of things was to be established in this movement. No kingly power ye are all brethren, the ministry was to help the layman in his outreach, all were to minster, the health laws were to be established for the healing of God’s people so that they could carry a healing message to the world, love for the brethren, with the putting aside of differences was to be evident as those that had the mind of Christ- this is the platform from which a people of God will be translated and those living upon the earth when He comes shall not see death. The steps leading up to the platform- 1. worship Him that made heaven and earth, 2. Come out of Babylon and 3. Receive not the mark of Babylon, there is no neutral position. And those that are His; Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.  Now the faith of Jesus is a mental state that makes one mind one with the other, that is the mind of God seen in His followers and seen in situations and seen in family and home.

The Jews professed to believe the prophets, and to acknowledge the authority of God’s law but the far greater part of the nation had a merely nominal faith and rejected the Messiah. Therefore not only is the law of God to be kept but with it the heart and affections. The heart is not wholly God’s if you keep not the law of His character – particularly the one with the stamp of His name (the 7th day Sabbath) and if the law is kept do we really by word and deed show we have the faith of Jesus.

‘You decide. Was this really God’s movement?’ Was it significant enough that God was pointing to a last day movement which would prepare a people for translation and the heavenly sanctuary and the time of judgement in heaven and earth might shake and wake the nations to the significance of their eternal destiny? How could such be made possible without the true gospel- a faith that works by love and is manifest in a commandment keeping people that have an eye on His movements in heaven and it significance to earthly events. The truth of the heavenly sanctuary and its significance was revealed by the study of the 2300 year prophecy. One teaching seemed to lead to another- God’s people were studying and coming into line.  The Seventh-Day Adventist movement was established as a commandment keeping people, the teachings of the health laws and the state of the dead and the living’s obligations to follow His instructions to prevent and heal diseases was central to this movement and of course this was to prepare a special people for translation at the second coming of Christ. Pillars 1-4 the Sanctuary, the Sabbath, the Second Coming and the State of the Living and the Dead according to the teachings of Christ and the Bible was to establish that platform;  a gospel of Perfection which Paul spoke of in Hebrew 6:1. This was a very unique package of teachings that lead to a totally different concept of the world and after life and who and what we shall be and the standard that God requires of His people.  God directed His people by the word, by visions and dreams, but most of all by a solid platform of truth and the opening of prophecies to predict events long before they eventuated. Many to their peril teach a wrong gospel and disassociate themselves from Christ for they refuse to believe that God has the power to give them healing, a new and balanced mind and forgiveness. The gospel that a person cannot perfectly keep the commandments of God has been so ingrained into them that they have little understanding of the power of God available to them to overcome. They do not decide to take up their bed and walk, to take God at His Word and having made that decision they miss out on the life and happiness God wishes to bestow on them.

 True teachings on very important subjects were realized when the book of Daniel was unsealed.  God would declare the day of His judgment and how one was to stand in that day before the second coming. The day of Judgement was preached and a movement born in 1844 out of which the Seventh-day Adventist church was formed.  Notice I said out of which. (Even the name Seventh-day Adventist is telling you which church is waiting the appearing of our Lord and keeps His commandments.) The end of the 1260 year rule of the little horn established by the emperors giving the church power over state, was the papacy’s demise. The USA rose at this same time, as a bastion of freedom through separation of church and state and thereby flourished.  Rome’s tyranny had abated for a while. The USA was blessed as this was the country of birth for a commandment keeping people? Why here? Look at it’s constitution one that Papists hated and wanted to destroy. And the movement of God went worldwide. From this movement its creation and also its destruction seemly shall arise those who shall like Elijah of old be taken to heaven without ever experiencing death but they come through severe trial- the last great day of the battle of God almighty against whom the kings of the earth have gathered to fight.

Scenes similar to those described in these words will take place. We see evidence that Satan is fast obtaining the control of human minds who have not the fear of God before them. Soon strife among the nations will break out with an intensity that we do not now anticipate. The present is a time of overwhelming interest to all living. Rulers and statesmen, men who occupy positions of trust and authority, thinking men and women of all classes, have their attention fixed upon the events taking place about us. They are watching the strained, restless relations that exist among the nations. They observe the intensity that is taking possession of every earthly element, and they realize that something great and decisive is about to take place, that the world is on the verge of a stupendous crisis. {Mar 174.4}

The little horn will by flatteries and stealth reestablish itself to its former power (the deadly wound was healed) and will persecute the people of God.  It cannot work on its own but relies on the power and allegiance of others.

11:40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

Daniel 12 continues this message. A small company who refuse to homage the Papacy and continue to expose the man of sin will be persecuted, this is the nature of the beast. Tidings from the east and the north speak of the coming of Jesus the second time and a people ready for Him but if they be not ready…? for this reason with great fury he goes to destroy and make away with many. 

I have heard that the Muslim power cannot be the King of the North or the King of the south because it is in league with Catholicism and is a tight knit community really working together at the highest levels of the organisation. This does not ring true with the location and ideology of who is located in Egypt today. The coming of the King of North, that is the Antichrist will secure all of those ‘engines’ that is those beasts that he has used to wage war and confusion upon the earth, that ascend from the bottomless pit.  The king of the south or Egypt shall not escape from the war inflicted upon it from the King of the north, look at the final verses. The removal of the King of the south makes way for the domination from the North and reaching across into Revelation we see 3 frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon who the Bible lest us in Revelation 12 is the devil – the false prophet apostate Protestantism which makes an image to the beast, the beast (or the King of the North)and that which binds both of them together spiritism who lays the foundation for the coming false messiah whose war by its false teachings and it is against God almighty. Revelation 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs [come] out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, [which] go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. These religious ideologies draw the kings of the earth to battle in Armageddon.

Who is the King of the North and who is the King of the South. Is this a physical representation of country when borders and powers change? Or is it the development of religio/ political military power? I hope I have helped to answer some of these questions in this section. Rome from which the church of Rome came, has its seat in the North, sitting in the place of God as one equal to God and above God (thinking to change times and laws) as ‘His representative’ and remains till the end of the time. Daniel 11 would logically follow as an explanation of that which was before. Prophetic time was given and pinpointed the coming of the Messiah and would extend down to the end of time as depicted from an ever expanding detailed message from Daniel chapters 2,7,8,9. The main character that has been developed as the nemesis I would suggest is the King of the North (who aspires to Him whose throne is on the sides of the North) following the development of the beast from Babylon to the Roman power that absorbed all nations (Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece) that went before it. The body becomes larger as the kingdoms develop. That which is seemly complex comes down to our simple model and guide we have for Daniel 11 and 12 in Daniel 2 the image of a man- world history made simple and predicted ahead of time.

Zion the throne of God in the sides of the North

The throne of God is on the North (Psalms 48:2     Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, [is] mount Zion, [on] the sides of the north, the city of the great King.  Isaiah 14:13  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:  14:14  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.  and here is a power that begins in the North and invades from the North and remains North in the split of the Grecian empire.  Daniel 8 describes the little horn that was different from all that had been before  this way 8:8 Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.   8:9  And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant [land].) ………………If we are to follow on with Revelation the expansion continues in Chapters 8 & 9. Daniel 11 spans the full history of the world with the building of an empire Rome by first dealing with Egypt; becoming an empire and then religious and political in nature. The decline of the Roman empire is also covered in chapter 11 as denoted by wars between the King of the North and the King of the South after the prince ‘Micheal’ confirms the covenant with many. The span of the Roman empire was from 27BC maintaining its power ‘daily’ until the emperor gave the Papacy power,  legislative authority against heretics in 538AD . Following Daniel 11 before the Messiah or ‘He who would keep the covenant’ of God we have Rome and Egypt in their physical dimensions and after Christ they are described in the new powers found on earth that are religious/political/ military in nature as the same Kings but developed now into their full spiritual entities and are destructive in nature. Weak on their own but holding men’s minds and nation’s minds captive, to wage war and confusion among the nations.

Antichrist 

1 John  2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. He is in the place of Christ.  

There are Antichrists they worked in Paul’s day and the development was one who is comes to sit in the place of Christ. The image of a man, in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, coming as the son of man but is not the son of man, the head of whom is Babylon, denoted by its laws and misrepresentation of Christ is represented by the power of the Antichrist the Papacy until the coming of Lucifer himself. Every single Protestant leading reformer was united as to who the Antichrist is. Then the statue is complete as Lucifer stands on the earth as the Christ but you shall not be joined with them in burial, (the kings of the earth) because you have destroyed your land, and slain your people. Isaiah 14:20. 

Under the king of North Lucifer comes to the people of the world as the returned Saviour.

‘In different parts of the earth, Satan will manifest himself among men as a majestic being of dazzling brightness, resembling the description of the Son of God given by John in the Revelation. Revelation 1:13-15. The glory that surrounds him is unsurpassed by anything that mortal eyes have yet beheld. The shout of triumph rings out upon the air: “Christ has come! Christ has come!” He shall uphold the laws and teaching of Babylon that most have adopted from pagan festivals into Christian worship services, so they are already to accept him as their Christ.’

Here is the King of the North who sits as a queen. The church is the queen, the Pope is the King who makes way for Lucifer who comes as the Christ. He stands in the place of God who is the real King of the North. The beasts are the powers of that kingdom that have made it what it is. There are 7 heads and it uses the secular arm to do its bidding, at this time it is by stealth and in association, later when in full control and direct persecution.

Could it be that the final verses of Daniel Chapter 11 refers to Lucifer himself acknowledged and worshiped in the place of Christ and at that time shall Michael stand up to come for those who refused to bow their knee as did Shadrach Meshach and Abednego in the plain of Dura? I think so.  There will be a decree to worship or receive the death penalty. This time the only ones that will survive because the real Christ stands up to receive His own, is God’s children. The wicked are destroyed with the brightness of His coming.

At that time the righteous dead are raised. Daniel shall stand in his lot at the latter day.
